Memorandum book and letters of William A. Tinsley [manuscript] 1861-1886.

Memorandum book contains financial accounts and genealogical data about his mother's family. The collection also contains three letters from him to his sisters Mollie and Fannie, 1864-1865, written at Petersburg, Va., while serving with Reserve Train, Third Army Corps, C.S.A. discussing camp life, peace movements, morale, and Gen. Robert E. Lee. A letter, 1886 January 1, Kate McClellan to Miss Tinsley, conveys news of friends.

Robert Edward Lee (1807-1870) served as General of the Confederate Army in the U.S. Civil War and was president of Washington College in Lexington, Virginia from 1865 to 1870.
